October 31st was a special day for me, and not because of Halloween. For me, it marked ten years of following Christ. It has been a journey, but one that I have never regretted.
I always knew about Jesus, but that day was the one that I committed to following him. He’s brought me through so many hard things.
What has He done for you?
Sometimes, we need to remember what God has brought us through. Maybe we think that we don’t have a story to tell. But if you’ve genuinely followed Jesus for any length of time, you have a testimony. Jesus has worked through you.
Maybe you don’t have a rags-to-riches story. I don’t. My story isn’t about my past. My story is about how God has grown me. It is the story of how I have been able to show God’s love to other people.
Seeing your story sometimes requires looking closely at your past. Maybe it means realizing how you got through that rough patch. It is hard to see what God is doing in some circumstances, but then when you look back, you can see what God was doing in your life.
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. ~ Jeremiah 29:11 NIV
He will work things together for our good. Even when things are hard, he still has plans for us. Those plans work together to create our stories. Our stories can be broken and messy, but they are so important.
What is your story? No matter what it involves, it matters. God is working in your life, and He has a purpose for you.
